Original Oil by Robert Douglas Hunter, DAC Collection

$11,495.00

Description

This wonderful painting measures 32″ x 56″ including the attractive and appropriate frame. The canvas measures 24″ x 48″. Picture 5 shows a red (2″) line in the image over the blue/white plate. It is NOT a tear and appears to be very minor and something easily cleaned off or covered by a professional. The listing in AskArt dates to 2008 with an estimate between $7,000-$10,000 when the painting failed to sell in a Shannon auction. If you remember, this was during the height of the recession and a poor choice of timing.

Hunter was born in 1928 and passed away in August of 2014.

The following is taken in part from the obituary written by Vose Galleries, Boston and published in AskArt.com.

Throughout his career, Hunter won numerous awards and medals, including a Citation from the Governor of Massachusetts in recognition of his painting and his contribution to youth education. In 2001, a new naturally-lit gallery at the Cape Cod Museum of Art in Dennis, Massachusetts was named in his honor. In 2011, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award in the arts by the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod.
