Description
Oil on canvas, this elegant portrait is in fine condition and dates to around 1790. Notice the stretcher construction. It measures 21″ x 25″. The canvas was laid down over another canvas (relined) over 200 years ago. Notice the gold trim by the artist around the edge of the painting. This was created using polyurethane and bees wax as told to me by Francisco J. Hoyos of Yost Conservation, LLC. Notice the amazing texture of the skin and the fine details of the fashion of the day which I believe to be French. I wish it were signed or perhaps I simply haven’t found that illusive signature yet.
